Surprisingly, having an eight-year old right an interesting 250-word essay everyday for two solid weeks is harder than you might expect. So to keep you up to date, here are three pictures, we will call them teasers for tales to come.

Sand eels and a cooperative blue fish at the aquarium.

Sachan and Grandma Spoiler at Ueno Koen for the Cherry Blossom Festival.

Most of the cherry trees in Ueno Koen have whitish blooms on strong dark boughs. But if you head over to the temple next to the zoo, where the really good food vendors are, you can turn left and head down a little path. Right before you start to the go down the very uneven and very old stairs that lead to a giant mon, there is a restaurant. And they have the only two hanging cheery trees in the park. Think bright pink cheery blossoms hanging off a gangly weeping willow. I had positioned mom and Sachan between two of the giant stone lanterns so as to catch the stone lanterns, the paper lanterns and the cherry blossoms. I had trouble taking this picture I was laughing so hard at the two (petite) grandmothers behind them using their cell phones to snap pictures of the blossoms.

Mom took this and it just seemed too beautiful not to include now.
