Sachan had her piano recital this weekend. Last year they were given their selections in November and the recital was at the end of March. This year the piece selection didn’t occur until December. It was very obvious that everyone could have used another month of practice their pieces.
The train wreck performances were overshadowed by the worst audience ever. Evidence of this can be seen in the recording of the dad with a hair weave immediately in front of us who thought it was Stevie Wonder; the parents in front of them who thought is was funny that their daughter kept taking the ribbon out of her hair and “losing her shoe,” the woman next to me who began to loudly tap her foot each time a child lost their count (which per the comment above, was quite frequently), and the girl who bounced on her father’s lap in the second row while filling the auditorium with loud cat sneezes and her germs. From start to finish the playing only lasted for 52 minutes! Since when can a small group of Japanese not sit still?
Here is Sachan’s 2:44 seconds of stardom. The first piece is a traditional Welsh folk song entitled “The Ash Grove.” The second piece is credited to Tchaikovsky entitled “The Swan’s Waltz,” which doesn’t directly correspond to a given opus within his ballet “Swan Lake.”
And yes you are stuck with another horrible video taping job by me.
Claire’s comment: “Wow! She is so good!”
Heather and I both agree! Great job, Samantha!
Enjoyed it. You looked beautiful also. Proud of you.
