Last Monday Sachan didn’t have school, so we met her friend at Roppongi Town Center, an upscale shopping mall where the Department of (self)Defense used to be.

This was Sachan’s first go at ice skating and after about an hour, she seemed to have had the hang of it:
Olympic skaters are safe for the near and distant future.

After some green tea ice cream at a nice little tea shop in the mall the girls played in this odd sculpture.

GO SAMANTHA! I think she did GREAT for her first attempt at ice skating. I only tried it once and spent most of that time falling on the ice. Women’s ice skating is going on this weekend on the Olympics – from what I have seen she could be a contender in the future and be much better at it!!!
Samantha,How nice to be able to see you learning to skate-I thought you did well!It is great that you are able to try new things.Your grandmother could rollerskate, but didn’t have the opportunity to try ice skating.Keep on trying new things.Grandma Henson
